Two students of Kemeloi Boys High School in Nandi County have been arrested in connection with an arson attack that left one of the dormitories in the institution razed down on Tuesday.

According to the school principal, Kiptoo Kimosop, there were no casualties as students were in class for evening preps when the fire began.

Mr. Kimosop said the school board convened an emergency meeting and agreed that students remain in school.

He further stated that affected students will use part of the dining hall as their dormitory while plans to construct another one get underway.

The school boss called on well-wishers to assist in the purchase of new beds to enable the affected students continue with their normal activities.

Nandi Governor Stephen Sang has since donated 120 mattresses and blankets, while noting that Kemeloi was one of the best performing boys school in the region.

He urged the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to carry out investigations and bring to book the perpetrators of the incident.
