Two siblings killed after house collapses in Kisumu

The victims, aged 14 and 10, were trapped under the debris when the single-room house caved in while they slept. Their 12-year-old sibling survived the incident.

Area Chief Judith Omune said the three minors had been left home alone at the time, as their mother was away at work.

Well-wishers and neighbours rushed to the scene and managed to rescue the 12-year-old, who escaped unhurt. However, efforts to save the other two children were unsuccessful.

Chief Omune noted that preliminary findings indicate the house, along with others in the area, may have been structurally unsound. Investigations are currently underway to determine the exact cause of the collapse.
