Two police officers stationed in Bungoma County have been arrested by detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) for allegedly soliciting a bribe.

The officers, Constables Charles Ogola and Vincent Orwa, are set to be charged in court for demanding a bribe in order to release a motorcycle that they had impounded and detained at the Kanduyi Police Patrol Base claiming it was stolen.

The arrest came after the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) concurred with recommendations of the commission to charge the suspects.

The suspects are presently detained at the EACC Bungoma Regional Office for processing before later being taken to the Bungoma Police Station.

They will be arraigned on Wednesday at the Bungoma anti-corruption court, even as the commission is still trailing yet another police officer implicated in the crime.

Constable Onesmus Kiprop is still at large, and has since been directed by the anti-graft agency to present himself to the EACC Bungoma Regional Office for processing.
