Two police officers have been arraigned at the Githongo Law Courts in Meru County over allegations of defiling and sexually assaulting a three-year-old girl.

Police constables Nicholas Njagi and James Mutabari are accused of committing the offences on Friday at their rented house in Kinjo Village, Imenti Central.

According to investigators, the two allegedly lured the minor into their house, where they sexually assaulted her before sending her back to her mother.

The child's mother is reportedly a friend of one of the suspects.

The two officers appeared before Senior Principal Magistrate Nafuna Sarapai at the Githongo Law Courts.

The matter is scheduled for mention on October 26, 2026, for directions on plea-taking.
