Two brothers died on Monday night in a road accident after their motorbike hit a stationary lorry at God Bondo trading center on Homa Bay-Kendu Bay Road.

The deceased identified as Paul Ochieng Ongiri, 36, and his brother Walter Owuor Ongiri, 26 were heading from Homa Bay Town towards Olare direction when their motorbike hit a stationary lorry which had developed mechanical problems.

According to the Assistant chief of Kanam Sub location Spenser Odhiambo Ojwang’, one of the brothers who was riding the motorbike died instantly while the other was rushed to Homa Bay County Referral Hospital where he succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment.

Ojwang says that the two brothers, who are residents of the neighboring Central Kochia Location, were heading home at around 9pm when the accident occurred.

The administrator who confirmed the accident revealed that one of the deceased had left their home in the evening with a motorbike to Homa Bay town to pick his brother who had just arrived from Nairobi.

The two bodies were moved to Homa Bay County Referral morgue as investigations continue.
