Twin losses lock in Lady Titans’ technical relegation from KNBL

Lady Titans head coach Moses Musebe was left resigned to his side’s relegation from the National Women’s Basketball Premier League after the Kawangware-based outfit suffered two defeats over the weekend.

The league newcomers lost 50-61 to Zetech Sparks before going down 35-58 to USIU Flames, results that leave them technically relegated from the top tier with just one game remaining.

Lady Titans have endured a difficult debut campaign, having played 21 matches, winning only two and losing 19 to collect 23 points.

Musebe admitted that even victory in their final match will not be enough to change their current position in the standings.

“We will be relegated. We only have one game remaining, and even if we win that match, it won’t be enough to change the position we are currently in,” said Musebe.

Reflecting on their weekend campaign, Musebe said fatigue also played a role, with the team having only five players available for Saturday’s game.

“On Saturday, I thought the girls played really well despite the loss. We only had five players available, and Saturday games are always a bit tricky for us because we are a sponsored team, and most of our girls work over the weekend, especially on Saturdays.

“Coming into Sunday, I think fatigue really kicked in, particularly for the five players who played all 40 minutes on Saturday,” he added.
