In a statement on Monday, the Authority claimed it has noticed that KIM is offering and awarding various academic and professional programmes without valid clearances.
It added that KIM has continued to offer unapproved programmes from those certified by the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Curriculum Development, Assessment and Certification Council (TVET CDACC).
Likewise, it is said to have continued engaging trainers without valid training licenses as required by Section 23(1) of the TVET Act Cap 210A.
The Authority therefore noted that KIM lacks the mandate to award academic qualifications, further revoking the validity of all certificates offered by KIM since 2018.
"Any certificates, diplomas, or other qualifications obtained from the institution beyond 2018 are not recognized for purposes of employment, further education, or professional advancement," the statement read in part.
The Authority also ordered that all 13 KIM campuses and one online branch be closed with immediate effect.
"Members of the public are therefore advised to exercise caution while engaging with KIM and to verify the accreditation status of any institution before enrolling in any programme of study," TVETA added.
In a rejoinder KIM said it had noted the notice and was treating the matter “with the utmost seriousness”, assuring students, alumni, partners and the public that it would issue updates through official channels.
“KIM is currently reviewing the contents of the notice and actively engaging the relevant regulatory authorities to address the issues raised and determine the appropriate course of action in line with the law,” the institute said.
KIM offers specialized training for supervisors, managers, team leaders, and business owners to enhance leadership skills.
Since being founded in 1954, KIM says it has over 10,000 members and over 70,000 graduates.
