Teachers Service Commission Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Evaleen Jesang Mitei was on Saturday feted at the 7th Edition of the East Africa Superwoman Awards (2026) held in Nairobi on Saturday.

Mitei was honoured as the Most Impactful Champion in Transformative Leadership in East Africa & Public Servant of the Year.

In an acceptance speech, Mitei said the achievement was a result of her visionary leadership, ongoing institutional reforms, and unwavering dedication to the growth of the teaching profession and public service excellence.

"These awards are dedicated to the resilient, hardworking staff at the TSC Headquarters and field offices, and to our dedicated teachers across Kenya!” said Mitei.

The CEO also extended its warmest congratulations to all the other trailblazers feted in various categories recognizing women in leadership, public service, entrepreneurship, and mentorship across East Africa.

Mitei took over the commission’s leadership in June 2025 after long-serving CEO Nancy Macharia’s retirement.

The East Africa superwoman award also recognized Citizen TV’s Lulu Hassan, Mwanahamisi Hamadi and Immigration boss Evelyn Cheluget.

The award ceremony recognized exemplary women leaders from various sectors.
