George Ngugi, Operations Manager at Ebenezer Commercial Works, said some drivers comply with axle-load rules at Mariakani Weighbridge but raise the axles after being cleared, only lowering them near Athi River Weighbridge.

He said Mariakani Weighbridge processes about 8,000 trucks every 24 hours and records a compliance rate of 98.5 per cent.
However, compliance remains a challenge along the approximately 450-kilometre stretch between Mariakani and Athi River.
Ngugi warned that trucks found operating with lifted axles while loaded would be charged for overloading and the axle-lifting offence.

For EAC Axle load regulations, fees is levies for overloading and is payable to KeNHA through ecitizen.
