Trinity Starlets head coach Sylivanas Wesonga has welcomed his team's first victory of the 2026/27 FKF Women's Premier League season after they defeated Bungoma Queens 3-1 away from home at the weekend.
Speaking to Citizen Digital after the match, Wesonga said the hard-fought win had boosted his players' confidence and motivation as they seek to improve their position in the league following a difficult start to the campaign.
The coach was pleased with his team's performance, acknowledging the challenges they faced during the encounter but emphasising the importance of securing all three points on the road.
Wesonga attributed the victory to his players' improved finishing, revealing that the team had worked on correcting their mistakes in front of goal before facing Bungoma Queens.
Trinity Starlets had struggled to convert several clear-cut chances in their previous matches, an area the technical bench identified as needing immediate improvement.
The coach believes the adjustments made ahead of the Bungoma encounter played a crucial role in helping his side score three goals and secure their first win of the season.
The result provides a timely boost for Trinity Starlets as they look to build consistency and climb the standings in the coming weeks.
Despite the victory, Trinity Starlets remain ninth in the league standings with four points, while Bungoma Queens occupy 10th place with two points after five matches.
Ulinzi Starlets lead the standings with 15 points, having won all five of their opening matches to establish themselves as early contenders for the title.
