Locals blamed the government for allowing upstream tomato and flower farmers to irrigate their farms, denying them water for both domestic and animal use.
Huge rocks and broken donkey carts were strewn across the road section in videos seen by Citizen Digital, forcing drivers on the route to take a detour when they reached the junction.
According to reports, the enraged residents also dismantled and broke all of the water pumps that supplied water to the farms for irrigation.
They objected to the fact that they now have to travel more than 5 kilometers to get water.
Similarly, six years ago, a conflict erupted that paralyzed transportation for nearly an entire day.
