Tragedy in Kisii as man dies by suspected suicide following domestic dispute

Benard Mokaya is said to have died by suspected suicide after ingesting what is believed to be a pesticide in the wee hours of Thursday. 

According to residents, family members heard the deceased writhing in pain moments after ingesting the devastating pesticide.

"The family raised alarm and we rushed him to a nearby health facility, but he was pronounced dead on arrival," said a resident said. 

Mokaya is said to have left behind a suicide note indicating that his estranged wife may have led him to take his own life, accusing her of infidelity. 

The wife is said to have left their home a few weeks ago after they fell out, leaving behind their four young children.

Residents say Mokaya had a troubled marriage, and was a friend of the bottle, something that led to constant altercations with the estranged wife. 

The body was taken to Marani sub-county morgue.
