Tiaty Member of Parliament William Kamket has been released on a police cash bail of Ksh.500,000 pending his arraignment in connection with the skirmishes in Laikipia County.

Kamket was set to take plea on Friday afternoon but the matter was vacated and the mention date pushed to Tuesday, September 14.

Principal Magistrate Lilian Arika directed that the cash bail be deposited in court.

The court further barred the legislator from making public comments or utterances regarding the case.

He is further required to remain at his Nakuru home.

Kamket was arrested on Wednesday at his Kositei home in Tiaty, Baringo County and driven to Nakuru by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

He is accused of holding meetings believed to have been involved in the planning of the attacks that has left several people dead and hundreds of families displaced in Laikipia.
