There was drama at Kagio Market in Kirinyaga County after three women were arrested for allegedly stupefying and stealing from a Catholic nun.

Kirinyaga police boss Mathew Mang'ira said the three, who had a getaway car on standby, drugged the nun before driving off and later dumping her near Kagio Catholic Church.

"The three women had parted away with Ksh.17,000 shillings belonging to the Catholic nun, who is in-charge of a local primary school in Mutithi Ward in Mwea. We have recovered the money," Mang'ira said.

Members of the public rounded up the suspects before they were frog marched to Kagio Police Station for questioning.

"The nun was talking to the three women before her driver came searching for her. He however suspected that something was amiss since she had taken long to return to their vehicle," witnesses said.

A trader who spoke to Citizen Digital added that the driver raised the alarm, with the local bodaboda operators responding in good time.

Kagio Parish Priest Jackson Wanjohi condemned the incident, urging locals to opt for lawful means of making an honest living.
