Detectives in Mombasa County have apprehended three suspects behind a string of robberies in the city and its environs.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), officers who were acting on intelligence staged an ambush in Nyali estate on Links Road which led to the arrest of the two suspects.

"Ali Ahmad Ali, known by the alias “Mkali,” and Abdulrahman Arafat," said DCI.

Following further interrogation the duo led officers to their rented house where the third suspect Mohamed Zulf was found.

A search conducted in the hideout led to the discovery of four pangas, two Y-6 twisted metal bars sharpened at the edges, eighteen small bales of bhang, ten assorted suspected stolen mobile phones, six spotlights, four suspected stolen livestock (sheep), one 32-inch TV, and one gas cylinder.

The three are being apprehended at the Mombasa Central Police Station for processing awaiting arraignment.
