2025/26 FKF National Super League (NSL) season has come to a dramatic close following a thrilling Round 38 final day that settled the destiny of the league, promotion tickets and the final relegation slot.
Migori Youth are officially the NSL champions, securing
their status at the pinnacle of the log and confirming their historic promotion
to the FKF Premier League alongside 3K FC and Mombasa United.
Conversely, the brutal reality of the scrapped playoff
system has hit MCF FC hardest, as they officially join Vihiga United and
Mwatate United in relegation to the FKF Division One league.
Needing only a point to secure the championship, Migori
Youth did exactly what was required by grinding out a 1-1 draw against their
closest pursuers, 3K FC, at the Moi Stadium in Embu.
The result pushed Migori to an unassailable 81 points,
sealing the league title in style. Despite failing to win on the final day, 3K
FC had plenty to celebrate. Finishing second on 77 points, they successfully secured
promotion to the top tier.
They will be joined in the FKF Premier League by Mombasa
United, who locked down the final promotion slot with 76 points after a
hard-fought 1-1 draw against Naivas FC at the Dandora Stadium.
At the bottom end of the table, the race to avoid the
final drop zone delivered pure class. MCF FC faced a must-win clash but
crumbled under the pressure at home, falling to a massive 3-0 defeat against
Fortune Sacco FC at their home turf. The loss left MCF stranded on 34 points in
18th place, confirming their relegation to the FKF division one.
MCF’s capitulation opened the door for their survival
rivals to breathe a massive sigh of relief. Kisumu Allstars did their job
efficiently at the Kodiaga Prisons Grounds, securing their safety with a
crucial 1-0 victory over the already-relegated Vihiga United to finish on 39
points.
Darajani Gogo also produced a masterclass performance when
it mattered most, shocking Nairobi City Stars with a comprehensive 3-0 victory
at Gems Cambridge. The win moved Gogo to 38 points, a tally that proved more
than enough to preserve their NSL status for another season.
In other matches across the league, Gucha Stars ended
their season on a high by edging out FC Talanta 3-2 in a five-goal thriller at
the Green Stadium in Awendo.
Elsewhere, Soy United picked up a slim 1-0 away victory against Luanda Villa at the Mumboha Grounds, while Nzoia Sugar FC replicated the same scoreline with a 1-0 home win against Kibera Blackstars at the Sudi Stadium. MOFA FC and Kabati Youth canceled each other out in a 1-1 draw at the Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay.
