Police officers working with the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) have arrested three suspects after they were found with more than 1,000 kilogrammes of suspected game meat — believed to be zebra — at a residence in Gikambura.

KWS said the suspects were allegedly in the process of mixing the game meat with livestock meat that had been slaughtered at the premises. Officers also recovered chemicals that were reportedly being added to the meat.

According to KWS, the zebras were killed in Naivasha before the meat was transported to Nairobi.

Residents of Nairobi have been urged to be cautious about the meat they buy as the crackdown on illegal wildlife meat continues.
