Thika Town MP Wa Jungle to run for Kiambu governor as independent

Independent Political Leaders Forum (IPLF) in Kiambu have
endorsed Thika Town Member of Parliament Eng. Patrick Wainaina Wa Jungle to
contest for the Kiambu Governor in the upcoming August General Election.
Wa Jungle, who lost in the UDA Party nominations, will be
vying for the gubernatorial seat as an independent candidate.
The forum also threw its weight behind musician Loise Kim to
contest for the Kiambu Woman Rep seat and Wanjiru Mathai for the Kiambu Constituency
seat.
Wa Jungle who is the patron of the group said they had also
agreed to have consensus for all 60 ward MCA seats, and remaining 11
parliamentary seats and 1 senate position.
“Our objective is to serve Wanjiku with all our ability,
knowledge and passion in order to permanently change the economy and standard
of living of our people of Kenya,” noted the Patron, Eng. Wainaina Jungle, who
was speaking at a forum bringing together around 300 independents.
With 103 days to the general election, the list of aspirants
eyeing various elective seats as independent candidates is growing.
From a list of 900 applicants three weeks ago, the number
has shot to 5,471 by the close of business on Tuesday.
Registrar of Political Parties Anne Nderitu says those keen
on participating in the August polls without affiliation to any political party
have until May 2 to submit their applications, through an online portal.
So far, 10 presidential aspirants have submitted their
applications to vie as independent candidates.
Over 800 applications have been received from contestants
seeking the National Assembly seats, 71 applications have been filed by those
eyeing gubernatorial jobs in the August polls.
