Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has decried the high number of nude photos being sent to the direct messages (DMs) of his social media accounts by Kenyan women.

Speaking in an interview last week, the outspoken legislator admitted to receiving millions of messages on social media, however noting that he does not get time to respond to all of them owing to his busy schedule.

“I do respond to my DMs but not all, because like on Facebook, as we speak, the messages that I have there are around 18 million, on Instagram I have 6.8 million messages, in my email account I have around 12 million…so it is not practically possible to respond to all of them but I randomly do so from time to time,” he told Nairobi News.

While ceding that some of the messages he has received are from Kenyans seeking an audience with him owing to various constraints that they would like him to assist in addressing, Owino noted that a good chunk of the private texts are lewd photos from Kenyan women looking to get intimate with him.

“On a daily basis, I receive so many weird things such as nude photos from very beautiful ladies. Napata DMs kali sana, temptations zile serious,” he said.

Despite the sexual advances from members of the fairer sex, Owino says that the attention rarely gets to his head noting that the nudes paint a clear picture of how women are struggling to make ends meet.

“There is a reason why they are doing this. Probably maisha pia ni ngumu because if a lady takes a nude photo or video and sends it out, there is something that she is probably lacking and that she is looking for,” he said.

“I consider it as a challenge because either they want love, financial assistance or guidance but all in all I am just like okay.”

He went on to state that elected leaders often find themselves in such positions noting that they should be prepared for any outcome while in office.

“As a leader, that is what you go through. A leader lazima akuwe kama kikapu ya mwendawazimu. Kikapu hicho kinabeba chakula, pesa and all kinds of things,” stated the MP.
