Red-hot FC Talanta striker Emmanuel Osoro is over the moon after earning the first ever Harambee Stars call up ahead of the June friendlies against Chad in Morocco.

The 23-year-old has plundered 16 goals in the FKF Premier League, placing him as the league's joint top scorer alongside Kakamega Homeboyz's Moses Shumah.

The forward made his mark against some of the league’s toughest opponents in the current FKF Premier League campaign — scoring twice against Tusker, and bagging winning goals against KCB and Gor Mahia.

Osoro is relishing the opportunity to don the national colour, capping off what he describes as a ‘dream season’ in the top flight.

He admitted it came as a pleasant surprise to him and he enjoyed the feeling when he was informed that he made the team for the upcoming friendly matches against Chad.

“The feeling was a nice one. I did not expect to get the call-up, it came as a shocker, but this is normal. If you perform well, you get noticed. I see this as a perfect exposure to build my name and to represent my club.”

The former Nzoia Sugar man, who is in his second season in the league, has been in sensational form scoring 16 goals so far with only one penalty.

“This is my second season in the league. I can call it a breakout season. It’s been a dream, and I want to build on it.”

The forward also revealed that his performance this season was driven by personal ambition and clear targets.

“The fuel is just from within, pushing myself to achieve. I had a target at the start of the season to score at least 20 goals in the league,” he said.

Strikingly, Osoro noted that he has thrived more against some of the league’s biggest teams, which gave him even more belief. He netted two goals to dent tusker title hopes, scored the winners in 1-0 wins over KCB and Gor Mahia, scored against Sofapaka, Bandari and AFC leopards

“I’ve found it much easier to net against the big teams. That has motivated me more, and reaching 20 goals has been a major motivator.”

Talanta  FC is currently 14th in the league table, two points above the drop zone and will be banking on their star man heroics to secure them safety.
