Syphas Otieno's long-held ambition of playing in the Kenyan Premier League has become a reality after Migori Youth secured promotion from the National Super League following a crucial 2-1 victory over Equity.

‎The achievement marks a remarkable turnaround for the club, which finished 14th in the NSL last season and entered the current campaign with the modest target of avoiding relegation. Instead, a combination of factors - determination from the players, tactical guidance from the coaching staff, and unity within the squad propelled Migori Youth to an outstanding season that culminated in promotion to Kenya's top-tier competition.

‎In a conversation with Citizen Digital after the historic achievement, Otieno expressed his excitement at the prospect of competing against some of the country's football powerhouses, including Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards. He described the promotion as the fulfilment of a personal dream and a reward for the team's hard work throughout the season.

‎"It is a dream come true. I will be great playing against the likes of Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards," he said.

‎The midfielder also revealed that his ambitions extend beyond club football. Having secured a place in the Premier League, he is now focused on earning a call-up to the national football team, Harambee Stars.

‎Migori Youth have already been crowned NSL champions with 80 points despite having one match left to play. Their impressive campaign has earned them automatic promotion, while Mombasa United, who occupy second place with 75 points, have also secured a place in next season's Premier League.

‎Attention now shifts to the race for the remaining promotion slot. Third-placed 3K FC still have a chance of joining Migori Youth and Mombasa United in the top flight. Their fate will be decided in their final league match against the newly crowned champions, with victory guaranteeing promotion to the Kenyan Premier League.

‎For Migori Youth and players such as Syphas Otieno, the season will be remembered as one of the club's greatest achievements, transforming a team that was once battling for survival into national champions and Premier League newcomers.
