Suspected drug trafficker arrested along Thika-Garissa highway

A suspected drug trafficker has been arrested along the Thika–Garissa Highway during a security operation at a police roadblock in Kanyonyoo.
Police officers intercepted a matatu and arrested 27-year-old Stephen Oronje after searching his belongings.
According to police, officers recovered a stash of bhang concealed in a black bag.
The drugs were tightly wrapped in yellow cello tape and packaged in bales of cannabis sativa.
When they rummaged through Oronje’s belongings, they unearthed a black pack. Inside, wrapped tightly in yellow cello tape, were bales of bhang.
Authorities also recovered eight packs of rolling papers, each containing 100 sheets, as well as a digital weighing scale suspected to have been used in the packaging and distribution of the drugs.
Investigators believe the consignment was destined for Kitui town and may have been sourced from Bungoma County.
