Suspect arrested after viral video captures robbery in Nairobi's Parklands

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) identified the suspect as Obed Makori, who was arrested along the Northern Bypass on Wednesday following an intelligence-led operation.

According to the DCI, Makori was among suspects captured in the viral footage assaulting the victim before making away with his valuables.

Investigators said the suspect dropped a firearm during the robbery, which was subsequently recovered by police and secured as evidence.

Makori had reportedly been evading arrest since the incident, prompting detectives to launch a manhunt that culminated in his arrest.

The suspect is currently in police custody awaiting arraignment as detectives intensify investigations to identify and apprehend his accomplices, who remain at large.

The DCI has reiterated its commitment to dismantling criminal networks and bringing suspects involved in violent robberies to justice.
