Student among two killed in accident on Chavakali–Kapsabet road

The accident occurred when an Eldoret-bound matatu belonging to Kangaroo SACCO hit a motorcycle from behind. The motorcycle was ferrying three students from Kaptik Secondary School.

The rider and one student died on the spot, while the other two students sustained serious injuries and were rushed to hospital.

The incident comes barely three months after four students from Kaptik Secondary School died in a similar accident about 500 metres from the same location.

Residents have accused the contractor of failing to complete the road, which they say has now claimed several lives. They are calling on the government to ensure the road is constructed to the required standards.

Cheptulu OCPD confirmed the incident and cautioned drivers against reckless driving.
