Harambee Stars First Coach, Stanley Okumbi on Sunday called up eight additional players to link up with the team’s provisional squad that will feature in two international friendlies this week.

Ian Otieno (Posta Rangers), Edwin Mukolwe (AFC Leopards), Peter Nzuki (Nakumatt FC) Tirus Omondi (KCB), Amos Kigandi (Vihiga United FC), Nicholas Kipkirui (Zoo Kericho FC), Eston Esie (Western Stima) and Joseph Owiti (Chemelil Sugar) will join the side that reports to camp on Monday at 11 a.m. local time (+3GMT).

Okumbi  pointed out that the additional call ups have been necessitated by concerns that some of the players earlier named in the provisional squad of 29 may not make it to camp due to club engagements.

“As you are aware, there are players who are scheduled to play league matches for their clubs on Thursday and with the Harambee Stars playing Sudan on Friday, we feel that it is impossible to have them in the team for the clash and that’s why we have decided to beef up the squad,” the Stars boss reported.

“We are however certain that we will have all the players available for selection in our match against Tanzania on Sunday,” added the tactician.

Meanwhile, the team will now camp at Kasarani and not Utalii hotel as earlier communicated.

Stars takes on Sudan on Friday at Nairobi’s Safaricom Stadium in Kasarani Stadium, before playing Tanzania, two days later at the same venue.

In the first encounter, Kenya will field a squad of emerging stars, while the second match will be a full international friendly.
