Harambee Starlets head coach Beldine Odemba believes the upcoming international friendlies in Zambia will provide a crucial measure of Kenya's preparedness for the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

Kenya will begin their campaign against Zimbabwe on June 6 before taking on hosts Zambia on June 9 in a tournament expected to offer valuable competitive exposure ahead of the continental showpiece.

The tournament presents the technical bench with another opportunity to assess the squad against quality opposition as preparations for the 2026 WAFCON gather momentum.

Odemba said the friendlies will help the team evaluate its readiness for the tournament in Morocco.

"We want to use this tournament to gauge ourselves and see how ready we are for WAFCON. We have a good team that is putting in the hard work required to be at its best before we go to Morocco, and so far I am pleased with what I have seen from the players," said Odemba.

She added that the ongoing international window has enabled the team to access more players who could strengthen the squad.

"This is the period when clubs release players, and we have some players whom I believe will be of great value to the team," she said.

Goalkeeper Annette Kundu echoed the coach's sentiments, saying the squad is highly motivated and determined to make a strong impression in Zambia.

"Everyone in the team understands their role and what we are here to achieve. I believe we have what it takes to perform well in Zambia based on the spirit and morale I have seen within the squad," said Kundu.

The Zambia friendlies are expected to provide a key test for the Starlets as they continue fine-tuning their preparations for the Women's Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
