St. Antony's Kitale hockey head coach Kevin Lugalia has said his team will approach every match as a final when the National Secondary School Term One Games begin on Monday in Kisumu.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Lugalia said the team has intensified its preparations ahead of the competition and believes it has what it takes to lift the trophy.

“We are preparing well for the competition. We understand the intensity we expect, and we are mentally ready. It will not be easy—that is why we will take every game as a final,” said Lugalia.

St. Antony's has been drawn in Pool A alongside Kisumu Day, Alliance High School, and Mbooni Boys—a group the head coach believes will be exciting due to the quality of opposition.

“It is a tough pool. Every team has experience playing at the national level and boasts quality players. However, we are determined to qualify for the next round and go all the way to win the title,” he added.

St. Antony's has finished as runners-up in the past two years, losing to Musingu High School in the national finals. The veteran tactician believes it is time for his side to reclaim the title.

“It is true we have lost in previous finals. That is part of the game, but as a team, those are lessons we have learned. We will use that experience to try our best and reclaim the title,” Lugalia stated.
