Six suspects linked to the
murders of at least 7 women in Mawanga, Nakuru County, will be detained for a
further 14 days to allow for the completion of investigations.
The six are; Evans Michori
Kebwaro, Julius Otieno, Josephat Simiyu, Denis Mmbolo, Isaac Kinyanjui and
Makokha Wanjala.
Nakuru Law Courts Principal
Magistrate Yvonne Khatambi granted the prosecution more days to detain the six on
grounds that their DNA samples are still being processed.
Magistrate Khatambi also detained
the suspects so as to ensure that they do not interfere with evidence as well as witnesses
lined up to testify in the case.
The investigating officers said forensic
evidence, including communication data from a motorbike GPS tracker and mobile
phone, points to the suspects being present at the crime scenes.
The suspects are accused of
killing Beatrice Akinyi, Diana Opicho, Susan Wambui and Grace Njeri in Mawanga
area between December 2021 and June 2022.
They’re further accused of
murdering a middle-aged woman named Judy Nyambura and her two children, Shadiya
Wangari and Limsey Marie, in Kisulisuli, Nakuru East on June 1, 2022.
