Singer Jux Juma: I did not know my girlfriend was a drug peddler

Tanzanian singer Jux Juma has said he was not aware that his ex-girlfriend Jackie Cliff was a drug peddler.

The pair’s relationship was brought to a grinding halt in 2013 after Jackie was arrested and imprisoned in Hong Kong, China as she attempted to peddle 1.1Kgs of heroin, worth Ksh3.94 million (TSh85 million), into the country through Macau.

“I deeply loved Jackie Cliff. When I fall for a woman, I do so wholeheartedly because I prefer being in a mature and stable relationship,” Jux said on Mkasi programme.

“I know it is hard to believe me, but honestly I did not know Jackie Cliff engaged in the illegal trade (drug peddling) until she was met by the predicament. I was confused when she was arrested and imprisoned,” added Jux.

Jackie Cliff’s release date (from prison) remains unknown.

The 30-year-old was lucky to have been sentenced to jail in Hong Kong as the region’s laws are incongruent with other parts of China where drug peddling is punishable by death.

Jux Juma is currently dating Tanzania’s high-flying singer Vanessa Mdee.
