Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi, who is also a principal in the Linda Mwananchi movement, has declared that there will be no negotiations with the United Opposition coalition on any possible merger unless Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna is picked as the opposition presidential flag bearer.
Speaking in Kitale, Amisi said the country is yearning for a new generation of leadership capable of addressing the challenges facing ordinary Kenyans, especially the youth, unemployment, and the high cost of living.
He argued that young people have increasingly lost confidence in traditional political leadership and can only be motivated to participate in large numbers if one of their own is given an opportunity to contest for the presidency.
Amisi described Sifuna as a bold, energetic, and outspoken leader who understands the struggles facing the younger generation, adding that his candidature would inspire millions of youths across the country to actively engage in the democratic process.
The Saboti lawmaker further warned opposition leaders against imposing candidates on Kenyans through boardroom agreements, saying the next election should reflect the voice and aspirations of ordinary citizens.
According to him, the opposition must embrace fresh leadership and inclusivity if it hopes to win public trust ahead of the next General Election.
He maintained that the Linda Mwananchi movement will
continue pushing for youthful leadership and political reforms aimed at giving
young leaders a greater role in shaping the country’s future.
