Sifuna dismisses Ruto’s claims Uhuru is funding Linda Mwananchi

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has told off President William Ruto over his claims that Linda Mwananchi is being funded by retired President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Sifuna, who engaged young aspirants in Nairobi on Tuesday, asked President Ruto to provide evidence that opposition is being funded by his predecessor, insisting the Kenya Kwanza administration is in panic due to opposition's influence across the country.

The Linda Mwananchi principal also dismissed claims that they lacked an agenda, saying their main agenda is to make Ruto a one-term president.

"Saa hii anaulizwa ‘mheshimiwa rais una ushahidi gani hawa watu wa Linda Mwananchi wanapewa pesa na Uhuru Kenyatta,’ anasema hata yeye alisoma kwa gazeti. Unatuambia gazeti na at the very right time hiyo headline ndio anachukia kabisa, wakati gazeti ilisema SHA ilipoteza bilioni 10 alisema hiyo ni porojo," Sifuna said.

Describing President Ruto as a beneficiary of slogan during his 2022 campaigns, Sifuna told off the Head of State for portraying the opposition as a team that lacks agenda reminding him that their main agenda is to get him out of State House before reshaping the nation's destiny.

"When we speak about the software issues of this country, a return to constitutionalism, a return to the rule of law, a return to the equality, Kenyans have understood we have one person with PhD that is slow, hajashika,” said the lawmaker.

The Nairobi Senator hit out at Kenya Kwanza administration for running a government of tokenism, something he says if elected President he will resolve by ensuring State institutions serve ordinary Kenyans.

"Ati barua za TSC zinachukuliwa badala wafuate mfumo wa TSC barua zinauzwa, kwanza wanapea wabunge alafu wanauzia watu. Kwenu lazima muuze shamba ndio mpate hiyo Ksh.400,000 wanataka…when I talk of meritocracy, imebaki mmoja na PhD haelewi,” he said.

Sifuna, who assured the young aspirants of his support ahead of the 2027 General Election, urged them to focus on selling their agenda to the people and shun politics of using cash to entice voters.
