Mama Ibado Charity (MIC) has secured a Ksh.2 million sponsorship from Sidian Bank to support the second edition of the Run 4 Seniors event, scheduled for July 18, 2026, at Karura Forest in Nairobi.

The funding is expected to support programmes aimed at improving the welfare, healthcare, nutrition and overall well-being of vulnerable senior citizens across the country.

Run 4 Seniors seeks to raise awareness of the challenges facing older persons while mobilising resources to support interventions targeting their health, nutrition and social welfare needs. The event is expected to bring together corporate organisations, development partners, community groups and members of the public.

Speaking during the sponsorship announcement, Mama Ibado Charity President Ahmed Jibril said the partnership highlights the growing need for collective efforts to support Kenya’s ageing population.

“We are delighted to welcome Sidian Bank as a partner in this year’s Run 4 Seniors. Their contribution will help us expand the reach of our programmes for elderly persons across the country. Together, we are sending a message that senior citizens deserve to live their later years in dignity, comfort and good health,” said Jibril.

He noted that as the number of older persons in Kenya continues to increase, there is a need for greater investment and collaboration to address challenges affecting the elderly, many of whom face limited access to healthcare, nutrition and social support.

Sidian Bank Chief Executive Officer John Okulo said the bank’s support for the initiative aligns with its commitment to community development and social impact.

“At Sidian Bank, we recognize that strong communities are built when every generation is valued and supported. Run 4 Seniors presents an opportunity for us to contribute to a cause that uplifts some of the most vulnerable members of society,” said Okulo.

The 2026 edition builds on the inaugural event held last year and aims to attract more participants while increasing awareness of issues affecting Kenya’s elderly population.

Participants will compete in 5-kilometre, 10-kilometre and 15-kilometre race categories, with proceeds supporting programmes designed to enhance the quality of life for vulnerable senior citizens.
