Siaya: Body of fisherman who drowned found after two-day search

The deceased was fishing with a friend on Wednesday, when their boat capsized.

The deceased's colleague was able to swim and sought refuge from fishermen who rescued him. However, the deceased drowned before he could be rescued.

The search for the body took two days before it was finally found on Friday morning.

Assistant chief, Enock Otieno, said police took the body to Siaya County Referral Hospital mortuary as the family makes arrangements for his burial.

“Residents in Gangu Nyalaji, together with the local administrators have advised fishermen to wear life jackets when fishing, but many fishermen claim that they know how to swim and do not need the advice,” Kevin Odhiambo, a resident of Gangu said.
