Kenya Shujaa suffered a 14-5 defeat to Great Britain in their latest HSBC SVNS encounter in Bordeaux on Saturday, missing an early chance to secure a spot in the top tier of international sevens rugby.

Despite already beating the English side last week at the Valladolid Sevens, the Kenyan side simply lacked creativity in attack this time round.

Both sides battled for control in a physical contest, but Great Britain capitalized on their scoring opportunities and defended strongly to limit Kenya's attacking threat for much of the game.

Shujaa showed determination throughout the encounter and refused to back down despite trailing.

Kenya managed to cross the try line once, when Patrick Odongo earned a try for Kenya in the final minutes of the game.

However, the conversion could not materialise.

Great Britain's disciplined defensive line and efficient finishing proved decisive as they secured a nine-point victory.

The loss is a setback for the Kenyan side, which arrived in Bordeaux knowing every match would be important in the race for HSBC SVNS ranking next season.

Kenya remain in the fight and will now shift their focus to the remaining fixtures as they seek valuable points in the tournament.

Shujaa will play Fiji, then South Africa in their upcoming group stage fixtures.

In spite of  the defeat, there were positives for Shujaa, particularly their defensive effort and commitment against a well-organized British side.

The team will be aiming to bounce back quickly and keep their promotion hopes alive.

With the competition entering a critical stage, Kenya's players know that strong performances in the remaining matches will determine their fate in the HSBC SVNS campaign.
