Shock as missing businesswoman found dead along Chemelil-Miwani road

The deceased, identified as Nancy Akinyi Koiya, went missing early this week after failing to return home from work, prompting her husband, Kiplagat Koiya, to raise a public alarm and file a missing person report with local police.

Nancy was a well-known local entrepreneur who ran a hotel and catering business at the busy Kibigori Junction, on the border of Kisumu and Nandi counties.

The search by family members and local residents came to a tragic end on Wednesday morning when her body was discovered dumped near the Excel Filling Station along the Chemelil-Miwani Road in Muhoroni, Kisumu County.

According to preliminary investigations and witnesses who responded to the scene, the body bore signs of severe physical violence, including a fractured arm and injuries consistent with torture prior to her death.

The scene was cordoned off by homicide detectives, and her body was moved to a local mortuary pending a post-mortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.
