Several people trapped as building collapses in Kiamaiko

Eyewitnesses say that over 10 people were scavenging for scrap metals in the building that had been marked for demolition. The structure suddenly collapsed on Tuesday afternoon. 

Rescue operations are ongoing, and children are also believed to be trapped. Residents say 3 people were rescued immediately. 

The process of demolishing the building was on a break, when its structure weakened and fell down. 

At press time, authorities from the National and County Government was yet to give a report.
