Deputy President William Ruto has urged the Senate to adopt a formula that ensures all counties benefit from revenue sharing.

He said it would be prudent for the MPs to carry all counties together so that no one feels defranchised.

“Serikali ya Kenya ni serikali ya wote. Ni serikali ya walio wengi na ni serikali ya minorities na wale marginalised. Sisi ni serikali moja ya kujali kila mtu. Mimi nataka niulize wabunge wetu wa Senate wakati wanaendesha mjadala wao watazamie kuunganisha taifa letu la Kenya,” Dr. Ruto said.

According to him, it is possible to develop a formula that ensures that none of the 47 counties feel left out. “No county should lose for another to gain,” he added.

DP Ruto was speaking during the burial of Hellena Serem, mother to Aldai MP Cornelly Serem in Nandi on Friday.

He acknowledged that the Senate has the Constitutional mandate to decide on the formula for sharing of resources but reiterated that Senators should ensure that they act fairly.

“It is possible to have a win-win formula. A win-lose formula is not a solution,” Dr. Ruto added.
