Senator Methu puts Nakuru security team on notice over 'plans to disrupt events'

Methu, speaking during a press briefing on Saturday before opening the DCP party office in Nakuru Town East, urged Nakuru County Police Commander Samuel Boit to ensure adequate security at political events, saying authorities had been alerted to what he described as intelligence pointing to possible attempts to disrupt meetings in the county.

The senator alleged that there were plans to interfere with the planned opening of political party offices.

He also claimed that preparations were underway to disrupt a planned political gathering in Njoro, linking the alleged plans to a personal assistant to Njoro MP Charity Kathambi.

Methu did not provide evidence publicly to substantiate the allegations, and the individuals he named had not responded to the claims by the time of reporting.

Addressing Boit directly, Methu said the security agencies could not claim they had not been warned if violence or destruction occurred during the planned events.

He called on the police to act proactively to protect people and property and ensure political activities proceed without disruption.

Methu repeated DCP party Rigathi Gachagua's allegation that Nakuru Town West MP Samuel Arama was linked to the attack on the DCP convoy on Friday and claimed the MP was working with Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika. He also alleged that the attackers had been provided with resources and assurances that police would not intervene.
