Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu has been served with a demand letter over an alleged unpaid debt of Ksh.500,000.

In the demand letter dated July 17, 2026, lawyer Ojijo Senaji, acting for businessman Wilson Owade, claims that the senator borrowed the money on May 30, 2026, on compassionate grounds to, among other things, fund what is described as a "master-class showbiz glam."

The lawyer alleges that despite several attempts to recover the money, Nyamu has not repaid the debt. The letter further claims that efforts to seek payment were met with threats instead of settlement.

The advocates are demanding that the senator refund the KSh500,000 within 48 hours from the time she was served with the demand letter, failing which legal proceedings may be instituted against her.

In the letter, the lawyer states that his client remains hopeful the matter can be resolved amicably without resorting to court action.
