A small section of Jogoo road – stretching between Burma Market and Rikana – has been closed to allow for some road works.
Motorists using the road from the general direction of Nairobi town – and heading towards Eastlands – have had to use alternative route.
A digression has been made just after City Stadium flyover – directing motorists coming from the direction of Nairobi town to take the alternative route passing through Shauri Moyo area.
Motorists using the other side of the dual carriage have not been affected.
Residents told Wananchi Reporting that there are ongoing works near the Makongeni Roundabout – just after Rikana – and which have caused some slight traffic.
“A bulldozer has dug a deep trench cutting across the road just around Rikana area. It’s like they are laying a pipe or something. That is why the road has been closed,” said Peter Makori, a Matatu driver using the road.
Adding that: "The road was closed right from morning, and upto 10am it was still closed."
At the moment, the area has been cordoned off – with traffic police conveniently directing motorists on which route to use.
Jogoo road is a major road that connects Nairobi’s Eastlands areas of Donholm, Umoja, Kayole, Pipeline, Makadara, Shauri Moro, Bahati, Buru Buru, Tena to Nairobi town.
