Schneider Electric has opened an Innovation Hub and Hands-On Training Centre in Nairobi, positioning the new facility as a showcase for connected energy and building management technologies, while supporting skills development in the region.

In a statement on Tuesday, the global energy management and automation firm said the hub and training centre are housed within its newly established office in Nairobi and are designed to demonstrate how connected, intelligent systems can improve efficiency and sustainability in buildings and operations.

Schneider Electric said the Innovation Hub offers an immersive environment for customers, partners and other stakeholders to interact with its latest solutions in real-world scenarios, bringing together energy management, automation and digital technologies.

The company said the training centre will offer experience-based learning to help participants build technical skills and understand real-world applications of energy and automation systems.

“Developing local capacity is critical to unlocking the full potential of digital transformation in energy,” said Ifeanyi Odoh, Country President Schneider Electric East Africa.

He said the initiative will support awareness and adoption of connected technologies to drive efficiency, sustainability and growth across industries.

Schneider Electric said the office integrates its technologies including busway systems for power distribution, UPS backup of up to two hours, automated lighting systems, a building management system, environmental monitoring for air quality and temperature, smart switchboards and breakers, and cooling systems for thermal management.

The company said the systems are connected to enable real-time monitoring, data-driven insights and performance optimisation.

Schneider Electric Chairman Jean-Pascal Tricoire said the region needs energy, digitalisation and industrial localisation to unlock innovation.

The facility is located on the 10th floor of The Purple Tower along Mombasa Road and is open to customers, Schneider Electric said.
