President William Ruto continued his development tour of Rift Valley on Saturday as he lay the foundation stone for the Chebunyo Mother and Child Hospital in Bomet county.

The hospital project is among the activities lined up for the President during his visit to Bomet.

During the launch, Ruto said that the government is committed to ensuring that mothers reach the six month mark of exclusive breastfeeding.

He vouched for the transition to SHA from NHIF, saying that it has transformed access to healthcare.

Ruto's appearance comes a day after he toured parts of Bomet and Kericho counties, launching and inspecting various development projects while defending his administration's economic record.

On Friday, the President defended his borrowing record, arguing that Kenya's debt had grown at a slower rate under his administration compared to previous regimes. He also touted improvements in inflation and the foreign exchange market, saying the economy was now more stable.
