United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate in the just-concluded Ol Kalou by-election, Samuel Muchina Nyagah has said President William Ruto has tasked him with overseeing the implementation of ongoing government projects in the constituency.

Muchina met Ruto at State House on Tuesday, where the President congratulated him for running what he described as an issue-based campaign that demonstrated politics can be conducted with dignity, respect and maturity.

"Although our victory was postponed, our commitment to the people of Ol Kalou remains unwavering. Leadership is not only about holding office; it is about standing with the people and ensuring that development reaches every household," he said.

According to Muchina, President Ruto assured him that all government projects initiated in the constituency would continue as planned, adding that he had been assigned the responsibility of supervising their implementation.

Among the projects he listed are the completion of 36 ongoing rural electrification projects across the constituency, construction of houses for vulnerable families, and the completion of borehole projects, five of which have already been initiated.

He maintained that the projects are not about politics but about improving the lives of residents, saying he had accepted the responsibility of ensuring they are completed.

Muchina garnered 5,450 votes in the July 17 by-election, losing to Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) candidate Sammy Kamau Ngotho, who secured 35,440 votes.

The former UDA candidate thanked Ol Kalou residents for their support during the campaign and urged them to unite in pursuing what he described as a shared vision of a modern, developed and prosperous constituency.
