President William Ruto was back on the campaign trail, this time touring Western Kenya, where united opposition leaders are also conducting a three-day visit.

He accused his opponents of engaging in noise-making instead of offering alternative policy solutions to the issues they raise against his administration.

“Ukiwaskiza wakitembea na huku wanasumbua watu, wanaingia kwa masoko kupigia watu kelele, hawauzi nyanya, hawauzi kuku, hawauzi chochote. Wameenda huko na loudspeakers kupigia watu kelele,” said President William Ruto.

The head of state further accused opposition leaders of what he termed political forum shopping, alleging that they use public spaces such as churches and funerals to spread divisive messages.

“Wanaenda huko kanisani, hao si members wa choir, sio wahubiri, hawatoi ushuhuda, ni watu wa kuenda kusumbua watu kanisani. Wanaenda kwa mazishi, hata hawajui nani amekufa, wanaenda huko kupigia watu kelele,” he added.

Ruto also dismissed the opposition’s increased political activity, saying they were simply “wandering around” and had no development record to present to Kenyans.

“Na ndio unaskia wanatangatanga huku, ooh hakuna kitu imefanyika, ooh hakuna kitu imefanyika, ooh sijui nini. Na ni watu ambao hawana track record yoyote. Mtu kama umezunguka, umekuwa waziri wa kila kitu, umekuwa kwa serikali miaka 50, huna chochote, hakuna mahali utaonyesha ati umefanya anything,” he said.

He was speaking during the launch of the Shirikiana Sacco at Masinde Muliro University, where he expressed confidence in defeating any candidate fronted by the united opposition in the next general election, saying his victory would be anchored on his development record.

“Ukiwa na kiburi mingi, matusi mingi, madharau mingi, maneno ya fitina mingi, wale watu wako chini sana. Hawa watu watakutana na sisi,” he said.

The President said his administration remains focused on delivery and urged Kenyans to ignore what he termed as political distractions from his rivals.
