An 18-year-old woman has been arrested at the Ruai Police Station after she allegedly attempted to smuggle escape tools to three remanded suspects hidden inside a plate of rice.

Christine Njoki Gitau walked into the station on Monday, September 15, requesting to see three of her friends who had been arrested over robbery with violence and gang rape allegations.

A routine search of the food she carried, however, uncovered a pair of pliers and a shear buried beneath the rice, tools police believe were meant to help the suspects break free from custody.

The three, identified as Emmanuel Bosire, Ismael Arisa and Brian Gatheru, are being held at the station over allegations that they ran an anonymous TikTok page used to lure young women into meetings, where they would then gang-rape and rob them of their valuables.

Gitau was placed under immediate arrest following the discovery. Police say investigations are ongoing to establish whether anyone else was involved in the plot to help the suspects escape.

Detectives are expected to arraign Gitau alongside the three suspects as investigations continue.
