A section of Kenyans have called on the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) to take prompt action and address the state of roads in Nairobi and its environs.

This comes as the Authority kicked off repair works along Waiyaki Way in response to complaints by road users on online platforms.

Despite the Authority assuring Kenyans that it will prioritize the safety of motorists, road users took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to air their grievances.

“Why don’t you reconstruct the entire road instead of doing jua kali patchwork that ends up making the road rough?” Kiprotich Lang’at protested.

Other road users called out the authorities’ knee-jack response to issues raised by members of the public.

“After social media pressure is when you take action, why can’t you just do what is necessary at the right time?” Macharia Mbugua questioned.

Night- time conditions are one of the most complex driving situations due to limited visibility.

Road users emphasized that road markings are of essence to enable navigation, especially during night travels.

“You should equally prioritize road markings and signage. Night driving in majority of our roads is a menace” Peter Kamonde stated.

The ongoing works along Waiyaki Way prompted other road users to highlight an array of potholes on other major roads.

“Argwings Kodhek, Hurlingham, next to Fourways hotel…that pothole has been there for too long. It is a borehole now, do something!” Bundi Kotonya said.

The call-to-action, locals hope, will see the Authority ensure quality road access across the country.
