Rhumba stars jet into Kenya for Uncle Fred Machoka's 50-year celebration

Weego has
welcomed top rhumba artists to Kenya ahead of the grand celebration marking
veteran broadcaster Uncle Fred Obachi Machoka's 50 years in the media industry.
The event will be
held at Ulinzi Sports Grounds on October 10, 2026, with Weego providing
transport and logistical support to guests attending the celebration.
Alicious Theluji
from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) touched down at the Jomo Kenyatta
International Airport (JKIA) on Wednesday, joining Cameroonian rhumba maestro
Sam Fan Thomas, who is already in Nairobi.
As the countdown to
Saturday's show continues, the star-studded line-up is taking shape.
Sam Fan Thomas is
already in Nairobi, while Theluji arrived from Sweden, and was received by
Uncle Fred Machoka.
Theluji has
promised an electric performance as rhumba fans prepare for the grand
celebration.
“Wakenya watarajie
fireworks. It will be amazing,” Theluji said.
Koffi Olomide is
expected to arrive on Thursday, followed by rhumba queen Mbilia Bel on Friday,
ahead of the Saturday show.
Weego is at the
centre of the highly anticipated celebration, providing transport and
logistical support to artists and other guests attending the October 10 event.

The celebration
marks a major milestone for Uncle Fred Obachi Machoka, who is celebrating 50
years behind the microphone.
Machoka has played

Radio Citizen and Citizen TV.
