Revealed: Police officers linked to Dr. Victoria Mutiso murder were promised Ksh.1.5M

Fresh details have emerged indicating that those involved in the murder of Dr. Victoria Mutiso had been promised Ksh.1.5 million to carry out the killing.

The revelation comes as investigations into the murder gather momentum, with detectives also recovering another vehicle allegedly stolen from the disputed property linked to the case.

The manhunt for two police officers who went on the run after being linked to the murder intensified on Saturday, as senior security officers stepped up efforts to trace their movements.

Senior officers from the Central Region, led by David Loronyokwe, together with officers from Kikuyu Police Station, visited several police posts under its command as they pursued leads on Inspector Kenneth Kipkemboi Sang of Nderi Police Station and Bett Kiplangat Collins of Thogoto Police Station who are key suspects in the murder.

At Thogoto Police Station, the officers searched the house where Collins Bett had been living, seizing several items and records believed to be relevant to the investigation.

They later proceeded to Karinde Police Station, where the main suspect, Elijah Kimoi, had previously served.

Fresh details also emerging from the investigation indicating that three officers had allegedly been promised Ksh.1.5 million to carry out the murder. Each was reportedly expected to receive Ksh.500,000 upon completion of the assignment.

Investigators believe part of the money had already been paid before the killing. The murder was allegedly planned and involved several individuals, including a suspect who had been closely following Dr. Mutiso.

Investigators were also seeking firearm registers from Dagoretti, Nderi, Karinde and Thogoto police stations as they sought to establish the arms movement register and chain of custody of the weapon believed to have been used in the killing.

The murder weapon, which is now in the possession of investigators, is believed to have been issued to Inspector Kenneth Kipkemboi Sang.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) says the firearm was allegedly used by Elijah Kimoi to shoot and kill Dr. Mutiso.

Sang is a familiar figure to residents of Thogoto, having served at the local police station for less than six months before being transferred to Nderi Police Station, where he took up the position of Officer Commanding Station (OCS).

His transfer in May followed the controversial death of student Gustavo Victor Karani. The incident triggered protests by residents and increased pressure on Kiambu security authorities to make changes at Thogoto Police Station.

Meanwhile, the DCI has made further progress in the search for two suspected killers in police uniform recovering another Toyota Prado in Kisii County.

The vehicle is reportedly one of two that investigators believe were used to block the taxi Dr. Mutiso was travelling in as she headed to work.
