Residents worried as landslides wreak havoc in Nyamira

A section of residents in Nyamira County have called for support following a landslide caused by rains.

The incident was reported at Nyakongo in Kitutu Central, located in Manga.

The most affected area is at the Gionserio quarry, where visible cracks can be seen.

Area Chief Evans Nyang’au said this has resulted in cracks along the Gionserio-Nyakongo road.

“The quarry has been closed for safety purposes and locals warned against prospecting at the site,” the chief said.

The country disaster response team is assessing the situation amid calls for government support from locals.
