Public participation processes slowing Kenya's Singapore dream - Mudavadi

Speaking on Tuesday during a meeting in State House, Mudavadi argued that Parliament plays a very pivotal role in helping anchor public participation policies into law.

According to Mudavadi, in order to achieve growth within the envisioned timeline, Kenyans must adjust to shorter public participation timelines. 

“If we don't have a way of managing even the framework of public participation and parliament, I am coming back to you to help us. Please help us reduce this extremely elongated process of public participation.We cannot be going through public participation on a policy for three to four years and expect to get to Singapore” he said.

Mudavadi noted that the government has been pushing through with development projects including the affordable housing despite the tough conditions they face.

During the meeting, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki also opined that the inclusion of all political parties, regardless of their inclination, would ensure that everyone is involved in the decision-making processes in the country fostering unity.

Kindiki affirmed that the permanent underwriter of long-term national transformation into the first world will still remain the primary sector land and the second pillar being the production sector.

At State House Nairobi, President William Ruto received a report on reflections and proposals on strategic guidelines for Kenya's long-term national transformation beyond Vision 2030.
